Tulip appoints UK chief executive

Tulip has appointed Steve Murrells into the newly created role of chief executive officer for its UK operation.

Murrells will take up his position in early October. He brings with him a wealth of industry experience gained in a variety of positions including Tesco, as commercial director for fresh foods.

Gilroy is new md at Kookaburra

Cooked poultry specialist Kookaburra has appointed Tony Gilroy as md of its Peterlee operation.  Gilroy, 43, joins the company after 11 years at the helm of the Challenger Foods (now part of the 2 Sisters Group) operation in Sundrland, where he was site director. Prior to this, he spent 16 years with Kerry Foods in Durham.

New president at PepsiCo UK and Ireland

PepsiCo has appointed Richard Evans, currently general manager of Walkers Snack Foods, as the new president of PepsiCo UK and Ireland, with immediate effect.

Evans succeeds Salman Amin, who, after four years of building the company’s UK and Ireland business, has been promoted to the role of executive vice president for PepsiCo sales and marketing, based in New York.

New md at Findus Group UK frozen business

The Findus Group has announced the appointment of Mark Escolme as group md for its UK frozen businesses: Young’s Seafood and Findus UK.

Escolme has over 20 years’ experience working for major brands and companies in the UK and overseas. Prior to joining the Findus Group he was most recently group md for the UK, Ireland, Australia and New Zealand with SC Johnson.

New operations manager at Dawn Food

Sweet bakery specialist Dawn Foods has promoted European business analyst Stuart Deakin to the position of operations manager for the UK.

Stuart now has responsibility for all the production and warehousing of product in the Evesham plant, including plant maintenance and engineering. He will manage 100 staff, producing in the region of 400t of dry mix and 30t of cake per week.

Paragon Quality Foods appoints national accounts manager 

A new national accounts manager has joined Paragon Quality Foods, with a brief to use his expert knowledge to further develop sales.

Ian McKay
began his career in wholesale, followed by ten years with convenience foods firm Westlers and, more recently, seven years with Seafish UK, promoting fish products.

Alex Batty joins Crantock Bakery

Cornwall’s Crantock Bakery has expanded its new product development team.

Food and nutrition graduate, Alex Batty, joins the firm, based in Indian Queens, in the newly created role of new product development (NPD) technician.
